The world of international taxation is preparing for one of the most relevant events of the year: the 11th Annual International Tax Conference (AITC), organized by the West African Union of Tax Institutes (WAUTI). The event on Feb. 26 and 27, 2025, is an important opportunity for experts and practitioners in the field from around the world to exchange views.
Professor Piergiorgio Valente, President of the European Tax Confederation (CFE) and Chairman of the GTAP Global Tax Advisers Platform, who was present at the conference took part by speaking on the most topical tax issues. The AITC has established itself as a strategic platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices in the area of international taxation and tax policies.
The focus of this edition was on “Domestic Revenue Mobilization in the Wake of Dwindling Aid Flows and Increasing Debts: Strategies for Developing Economies.”
In a changing global economic environment, domestic revenue mobilization becomes crucial for developing countries, especially in light of dwindling aid flows and increasing public debt. Therefore, the conference will be an opportunity to explore the most effective strategies to address these challenges.
Key topics of the sessions:
• Taxation of the digital economy and international standards
• Illicit financial flows and domestic revenue mobilization
• Data analysis for revenue generation and tax compliance monitoring
AITC is a unique opportunity to connect with international institutions, companies and organizations active in the tax field. Through discussions, keynote speeches and workshops, participants will be able to learn more about strategies to make tax systems more fair, transparent and efficient.
Special thanks were extended to CFE-Tax Advisers Europe and the Global Tax Advisers Platform (GTAP) for their commitment to promoting best tax practices internationally. Their contribution is critical in supporting the evolution of the global tax system.
